Vasili's Mediterranean

Local team review
The grilled octopus arrived tender and char-kissed over a white bean puree, and it was the dish that made me stop comparing this place to other Greek restaurants and start comparing it to the best seafood I've had anywhere. The whole branzino, deboned tableside with quiet confidence, was Mediterranean simplicity at its peak: olive oil, lemon, capers, and nothing else needed. The baklava — layers of phyllo, walnuts, and honey syrup — was a classic finish that tasted like it came from someone's grandmother's recipe, not a commercial kitchen. In warm weather, the Riverwalk-adjacent patio table is worth the wait.
About the Restaurant
Vasili's commands one of the best addresses in Naperville, Water Street, steps from the Riverwalk, and the kitchen lives up to the real estate. The menu pulls from Greek and broader Mediterranean traditions: lamb chops charred over open flame, whole branzino deboned tableside, and a saganaki that arrives flambeed with a theatrical 'Opa!' The patio is the main event in warm weather, and the interior is elegant enough for cooler months. With a 4.8 Google rating, it's clear Naperville has voted with its feet.
Insider Tip
Book a patio table for sunset, the Riverwalk view and the lamb chops are Naperville's most photogenic dinner combination.
