Uncle Julio's

The tableside guacamole was the opening act, mashed to order in a stone molcajete with avocado, lime, serrano pepper, and cilantro while we watched. It was bright, chunky, and disappeared in minutes with a basket of warm tortilla chips. The mesquite-grilled fajitas arrived on a cast-iron skillet still screaming from the grill, a plume of fragrant smoke trailing the server across the dining room. Chicken and steak, both charred with that distinctive mesquite sweetness, came with house-made flour tortillas that were soft, warm, and miles away from anything that comes in a package. Uncle Julio's is a from-scratch Mexican kitchen, and you can taste it in every component: salsas, moles, tortillas, and desserts are all made in-house daily. The chocolate pinata, a hollow chocolate shell smashed tableside to reveal churros and fresh fruit, is pure theater and genuinely delicious. The patio with its fireplace makes even a February dinner feel like an occasion.
