The Belmont stepped into the prime Washington Street space left by Catch 35 and immediately announced itself as downtown Naperville's most ambitious steakhouse. The Empire Restaurant Group brought a fully scratch kitchen that handles USDA Prime, Wagyu, and in-house dry-aged cuts with the confidence of a team that has done this before. We ordered the dry-aged ribeye, a thick cut with a mineral-rich crust from the aging process and an interior that blushed pink from edge to center. The heritage pork chop arrived as a bone-in statement piece, brined and seared with a glaze that balanced sweet and savory without masking the meat. The seafood program nods to the space's former tenant, with daily-sourced fish and shellfish preparations that prove this kitchen has range beyond the grill. Seasonally inspired sides rotate, and a cocktail program built around craft spirits and house-made ingredients rounds out an evening that justifies the price point. The dining room strikes an elegant tone without stiffness, and the downtown location gives it foot traffic that most steakhouses outside the city cannot access.
