The SmartCard system is the hook: a credit card-sized token that lets you pour your own wine from 64 different bottles, selecting one-ounce, three-ounce, or six-ounce pours at self-serve stations along the wall. It sounds gimmicky until you realize it lets you taste a $90 Barolo beside a $12 Malbec in the same sitting without committing to either. The cheese and charcuterie board, a generous spread of aged comté, sopressata, house-pickled vegetables, Marcona almonds, and honeycomb, was assembled with the care of a place that takes its wine pairings seriously. The steak frites, a bistro-quality hanger steak with peppercorn sauce and crispy frites, proved the kitchen can hold its own against the wine list. Perched on the Riverwalk at Water Street, SixtyFour's patio is one of the best outdoor dining spots in Naperville, and the people-watching on a warm evening rivals the wine selection.
