Shinto Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Lounge

Local team review
The sashimi deluxe — a chef's selection of fifteen pristine pieces arranged like a still life — is the order that reveals what the kitchen can really do beyond the hibachi fireworks. Tuna, salmon, and yellowtail were all impeccably fresh, and the presentation alone made the table go quiet. The dragon roll from the sushi lounge, with shrimp tempura inside and avocado draped over the top, was the best roll we tried across three visits. The hibachi is fun and theatrical, but the sushi side is where I'd spend a date night.
About the Restaurant
Shinto delivers the teppanyaki experience that never gets old, onion volcanoes, shrimp tossed into eager mouths, and chefs who turn the flat-top grill into a stage. But beyond the hibachi theater, the sushi lounge holds its own with fresh nigiri, creative rolls, and a sake list that rewards exploration. With two Naperville locations (Route 59 and Freedom Drive), it's become the default celebration spot for birthdays, graduations, and any occasion that calls for a show. The sushi is genuinely good, which elevates it above typical hibachi joints.
Insider Tip
Skip the crowded weekend dinner rush and book a weekday lunch, same hibachi show, shorter wait, and better prices.
