Shake Shack

Shake Shack arrived at Block 59 and brought with it the same formula that turned a New York City hot dog cart into a global brand: premium ingredients, a focused menu, and a commitment to doing a few things extremely well. The ShackBurger is the essential order, a smashed Angus beef patty on a potato bun with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce that achieves a ratio of meat to bun to sauce that lesser chains spend millions trying to replicate. The crinkle-cut fries arrive hot, well-salted, and with enough structural integrity to serve as cheese fry vehicles when paired with the cheese sauce add-on. We tried the Chicken Shack sandwich, a crispy chicken breast with pickles and buttermilk herb mayo that rivaled the burger for our repeat-order loyalty. The hand-spun shakes are thick, creamy, and flavored with real frozen custard rather than industrial soft serve. The Block 59 location provides ample seating inside and out, and late-night Friday and Saturday hours extend service past midnight for the weekend crowd. Shake Shack does not reinvent the burger, it simply refuses to compromise on the version everyone already knows works.
