Kura Sushi

The conveyor belt glided past our booth in an endless loop of color-coded plates, each one sealed under a plastic dome that kept the sushi fresh until the moment we grabbed it. There is something genuinely fun about the Kura Sushi experience that transcends the novelty: the salmon nigiri, cut thick and draped over well-seasoned rice, was better than it had any right to be at this price point. The spicy tuna roll, the California roll, and a surprisingly good eel avocado all clocked in around three dollars per plate. Between rounds, we ordered hot items from the touchscreen: a tonkotsu ramen that arrived through a dedicated express lane, steaming and rich enough to anchor a separate meal. Kids love the gamified element: every five plates you deposit into the return slot triggers an animated prize game on the table screen. It is a restaurant that makes sushi accessible without making it forgettable.
