Golconda Indian Restaurant
NapervilleFood Editor
Local team review
The Hyderabadi dum biryani arrives sealed under a dome of dough, and cracking it open at the table releases a fragrant cloud of saffron and cardamom that is, without exaggeration, one of the best aromas in Naperville dining. The goat underneath was fall-apart tender, layered into basmati rice that had absorbed every spice. For dessert, the rasmalai — soft paneer dumplings floating in chilled cardamom milk with crushed pistachios — was the cool, delicate finish the meal needed. If your idea of Indian food stops at tikka masala, this kitchen will expand your vocabulary fast.
About the Restaurant
Golconda arrived on Ogden Avenue in 2023 and immediately raised the bar for Indian dining in the western suburbs. The kitchen draws from Hyderabadi traditions, the dum biryani is cooked sealed under dough, trapping steam and aroma until it's cracked tableside, and adds contemporary polish without sacrificing authenticity. The Golconda 65 (a fiery, crispy chicken starter) has become a signature, and the dosa menu offers South Indian crepes stuffed and sauced with genuine skill. The space itself is a cut above: modern, well-lit, and designed for lingering.
Insider Tip
Order the dum biryani and watch them crack the dough seal at the table, the aromatic steam that escapes is half the experience.
