Frankie's Blue Room
Live jazz, blues, and rooftop barbecue on Chicago Avenue.

Local team review · February 2025
The rooftop patio was packed before the first set even started, and by the time the three-piece jazz combo hit their stride, every table was full and the energy was electric. Frankie's Blue Room is less a restaurant and more a live music venue that happens to serve food, and that distinction matters. The blue cheese bacon burger, ordered between sets, was better than it needed to be: a thick patty with sharp blue cheese and crispy bacon on a toasted bridle bun, the kind of bar food that suggests someone in the kitchen actually cares. The barbecue, smoked on the rooftop itself, carried a genuine smokiness that most downtown kitchens cannot replicate. But the real draw is the programming: blues, jazz, rock, and funk acts rotate through a space that feels intimate enough to hear every note and lively enough to dance. Naperville's nightlife has always been thin, and Frankie's is one of the few places that makes staying out past nine worth it.
Insider Tip
Open Friday and Saturday only — programming is real blues, jazz, and funk, not cover bands.
