Fontina's operates out of a strip mall on Ogden Avenue, but the moment you see the handwritten specials board and smell the garlic wafting from the kitchen, the setting becomes irrelevant. We ordered the eight-finger cavatelli with house-made vodka sauce, a pasta dish with ridged tubes that trapped the creamy, tomato-kissed sauce in every fold. The Old World sandwich, stacked with capicola, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and a drizzle of house Italian dressing on crusty bread, reminded us why Italian delis matter. The Fettuccine Alfredo con Pollo arrived rich and indulgent, grilled chicken over ribbons of pasta coated in a three-cheese cream sauce with baby spinach folded in for color and bite. Every sauce is made from scratch, every pasta cooked to order, and the bread comes fresh from the oven. The Chicken Parm Sub is a local legend, freshly breaded to order and served with bubbling marinara that soaks into the roll just enough. Fontina's has built its reputation on doing classic Italian right, and the steady stream of regulars confirms that reputation daily.
